Baltimore City Fire Department - Message From The Chief

I want to welcome you to the Baltimore City Fire Department (BCFD). Thank you for taking time to visit our webpage. I hope you find it both informative and interesting.

The BCFD has a long and proud history serving the residents of Baltimore. “Charm City” has changed drastically over the years from a colonial seaport to a modern city thriving in the information age. We boast of world-renown medical institutions as well as a harbor that is a major regional tourist attraction. There is nothing better than a warm night at historic Camden Yards sipping your favorite beverage and watching the Baltimore Orioles play baseball.

The Baltimore City Fire Department has changed along with our great city over the years. We will continue to adapt our service delivery model to best meet the contemporary challenges we face at the dawn of the 21st century. The women and men of this proud department pledge to continue to provide the best possible service to meet the needs of our customers, and like our ancestors who served here, stand ready to put ourselves in harm’s way to protect life and property.

The Box 414 Fire Museum has preserved our history for all to enjoy at old Station 6. Just steps from the downtown area, this museum is well worth a few hours as you plan your next visit to Baltimore. We hope you will also plan to stop by one of our fire stations for a visit. Come see our fire trucks and ambulances up close and visit with our firefighters and paramedics. We will be happy to give you a tour and share our story of outstanding customer service to people who live, work and play here. We will even take your blood pressure and hand you a free smoke detector if you will promise to install it when you get home.

Thanks again for stopping by and stay safe.
