Transportation / Planning / Active Transportation Planning

Bicycle signWith rising gas prices, oil dependence, traffic congestion, global warming and increased obesity rates, bicycling and walking provide a common solution. Active transportation is a part of Baltimore’s “Cleaner, Greener, Healthier and Sustainable” philosophy. The Department of Transportation is responsible for implementing the Bicycle Master Plan bringing new bike lanes to city streets and encouraging citizens to ride or walk instead of drive. Just as road and sidewalk conditions are being improved for cyclists and pedestrians, Baltimore’s ADA Transition Plan will guide the city’s transformation into a safe and accessible community for all disabled citizens.
