Baltimore National Heritage Area / Announcements

Although many minds are turned towards the Star Spangled (War of 1812) Bicentennial, we will be actively commemorating the 150th anniversary of the Civil War in Baltimore and throughout Maryland, starting in 2011.

Thanks to a grant from the Maryland Heritage Areas Authority, the Heritage Area is working with our partners at Visit Baltimore, the Baltimore Office of Promotion and the Arts, and the Greater Baltimore Cultural Alliance to plan a weekend of activities from April 15-17 in honor of the first bloodshed of the Civil War. The weekend will include Maryland's Civil War Trails Expo, a downtown procession, and living history performances. For more information, please visit www.civilwarbaltimore.com.
