The CORPS Initiative
Solicitation Opportunity for Baltimore City Faith-Based and Community Organizations
The US Department of Labor has awarded funding to the Maryland Department of Juvenile Services (DJS) for the Continuum of Opportunity Reentry Program & Services (CORPS) Initiative. The Baltimore City Mayor’s Office on Criminal Justice (MOCJ) is the local partner agency and is offering small grant opportunities for local non-profit and for-profit Faith-Based and Community Organizations. Overall, CORPS will serve 400 Baltimore City male and female DJS youth 14 to 21 years old returning from placements, detention, or on probation. DJS and MOCJ are seeking the local knowledge and expertise of Baltimore City non-profit and for-profit Faith-Based and Community Organizations (FBCO) to provide the following services:
- CORPS Community Engagement
MOCJ will provide “mini grants” in the amount of $1,150 for supporting the immediate needs of youth returning to the community from out-of-home residential placements, while at the same time building personal bonds between community members and neighbors. These grants can be used to pay for activities such as neighborhood clean-ups, art projects, or other activities that bring together returning youth and community members. The application is attached and the deadline is June 1, 2011.
