Emergency Management / Snow Storm Information

Under the authority of the Stafford Act, the President has declared that an emergency or major disaster exists in the State of Maryland. The Federal Emergency Management Agency has designated, under disaster number DR-1910-MD, a presidential declared disaster for Public Assistance for:

A. Debris Removal
B. Emergency Protective Measures
C. Roads and Bridges
D. Water Control Facilities
E. Buildings and Equipment
F. Utilities
G. Parks, Recreational and Other

Baltimore City is eligible for disaster assistance for the February Snowstorms. There will be an information session for government and private nonprofit organizations that may qualify for federal disaster relief related to these snowstorms.

Eligible applicants include governments (state, county, local, school districts, municipal authorities); private non-profit organizations (educational, emergency, medical, utilities, custodial care, and essential government-like service providers). Potential applicants should have at least $1,000 in expenses.

The Public Assistance program provides supplemental funding for the applicants’ disaster response and recovery costs.

To obtain the maximum benefit from this federal disaster program, applicants should send a representative to this briefing. All applicants MUST complete a Request for Public Assistance provided at this briefing. If unable to attend, please complete the attached Request for Public Assistance and email to scampbell@mema.state.md.us or fax to (410) 517-3610 by July 5, 2010.
