Residents in the Southeast Encouraged to Relocate Vehicles in Low Lying Areas
With Hurricane Irene due to hit the Baltimore region this weekend, the Baltimore City Department of Transportation would like to advise residents in low lying areas of the city to relocate their vehicles in anticipation of possible flooding.
Fells Point residents who live in low-lying areas particularly prone to flooding are strongly encouraged to relocate their vehicles. Citizens may park their vehicles free of charge at the following garages and parking lots starting at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 27, 2011:
- Caroline Street Garage located at 805 S. Caroline Street
- Fleet and Eden Street Garage located at 501 Eden Street
- Edison Parking Lots located at Fallsway and High Streets
Parking at these facilities is on a first come, first served basis, and all vehicles need to be removed from these locations no later than 7:00 a.m. on Monday, August 29, 2011. In addition, citizens who reside in flood prone areas in South Baltimore, Cherry Hill, Westport, etc. may move their vehicles to Lot O of the stadium lots during these times.
In the event that any vehicles have to be relocated by city forces during the storm, they will be taken to the Edison Lots at Fallsway and High Streets. Motorists may call 311 with questions concerning the location of their vehicles.
Citizens should stay informed during the storm by tuning into local media channels for current weather conditions and alerts.
