Baltimore, MD (July 7, 2008) – This past weekend, Baltimore attracted people from all around the world to share in the City’s celebration of the 4th of July holiday.
On Friday, July 4, the Inner Harbor came alive with a brilliant fireworks show. People gathered in neighborhoods throughout the city: from Brooklyn Park to Canton to Fells Point and Waverly to see the technicolor display. Those who came to the Inner Harbor enjoyed a capella and doo wop singers as well as the U.S. Naval Academy Band.
Many more people came to the 8th Annual Waterfront Jazz and Arts Festival at Middle Branch Park to listen to music performed by Fertile Ground, the RYZE Band, Trey Eley, Eric Marner and David Back. They enjoyed a front row seat to the city’s fireworks display and much more!
This spring Mayor Dixon, supported by City Council legislation, formed the Baltimore Commission on Sustainability, representing neighborhoods, non-profit groups, institutions, and businesses. This Commission, in conjunction with the newly-created Baltimore Office of Sustainability, is charged with developing and implementing a comprehensive Sustainability Plan for the Baltimore community. |
