“Preserve the Past, Maintain the Present, Build a Sustainable Future!”

The Department of General Services (DGS) was created on July 1, 2009, having been a division of the Department of Public Works. DGS endeavors to make the City of Baltimore a leader in municipal energy efficiency, an innovator in the application of technology and a sustainable steward of government and community resources. And, our team saves taxpayers nearly $6 million each year through energy efficiency projects.

The Department of General Services has five divisions which provide services to City agencies and residents of Baltimore:

Fleet Management effectively manages the City’s vehicle operations and facilities.

Facilities Maintenance

Facilities Maintenance provides efficient operation, maintenance and improvement of City owned buildings.

Planning, Design and Construction

Planning, Design and Construction provides the design, engineering, management and inspection of City-funded construction projects and manages property records for all properties located within the city limits.

Energy

Energy monitors citywide energy use and the development of energy-efficiency improvements to City facilities

Right-of-Way Services
