Baltimore Rising, Inc. (BRI) formerly known as the Mayor’s Office of Children, Youth and Families transitioned in August 2007 into a 501C3 quasi governmental agency. Under the direction of Mayor Sheila Dixon and the Mayor’s Office of Community and Human Development (MOCHD), BRI is charged with bringing together members of the religious community, social service providers, governmental agencies, volunteers, parents, private and other nonprofit organizations, and other citizens for the purpose of waging a strong and aggressive campaign to significantly reduce youth crime and violence in the City of Baltimore. The agency has taken the lead in promoting the concept of integration of family strengthening as an essential element of service delivery for children and families citywide.
