- Implementation of Handheld ticket writers. Reduced the amount of labor and time needed to write tickets, fewer errors on tickets, more tickets held up in court, no longer need 3 positions in Finance who previously only entered parking ticket data.
- License Plate Recognition Technology. Increased the number of scofflaws (3 or more outstanding tickets) booted by 823 vehicles in FY07. Also have recovered stolen vehicles through the system.
- Operation Orange Cone Repaving. Will repave nearly twice as many lane miles (88%) in the city as last year, with the majority outside the city center. The amount of road under construction and already repaved has already matched last years total (80.5 lanes miles this year compared to 79.8 last year), while 3 months of the paving season still remain.
- Bicycle Master Plan. Created the position of bike czar to implement the City's Bicycle Master Plan.
- Improved Crosswalk Repainting. Will remark more crosswalks across the city than ever before. The previous record was 402 crosswalks in FY 2006, but this year the Department has remarked 240 crosswalks so far and is on pace to remark 550 by the end of the season.
