The Health of Baltimore 2008: Challenges and Opportunities

Baltimore, MD (October 6, 2008) – To lead off Baltimore Week at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, Mayor Sheila Dixon delivered a speech entitled "The Health of Baltimore 2008: Challenges and Opportunities."

In the speech, Mayor Dixon provided data on Baltimore's health challenges, described progress made to date, and outlined key strategies for progress on birth outcomes, HIV, violence, and other challenges.  She called on the public health institutions, hospitals, and area students in the city to expand collaboration with the city. 

Mayor Dixon concluded the speech by saying, "Baltimore is America's greatest city.  Together, we will make it America's healthiest city too."  About 250 students and faculty were in attendance.
