Coordination economic development agencies in Baltimore through active communication and collaboration toward a common goal, achieving improved economic situation and quality of life for Baltimore city residents.
By developing strategic interventions to promote innovation, economic diversification, regional competitiveness, and entrepreneurship, the CEDS process will create a platform for new job growth and income generation for distressed areas of the Baltimore region.
In 2007, the Department of Planning received a Planning Grant Investment from the Economic Development Agency. The Planning Program helps support planning organizations in the development, implementation, revision or replacement of comprehensive economic development strategies (CEDS), and for related short-term planning investments and State plans designed to create and retain higher-skill, higher-wage jobs, particularly for the unemployed and underemployed in the nation’s most economically distressed regions. The City of Baltimore has used these funds to support the formulation and implementation of a new (CEDS).
