Every ten years the U.S. Census Bureau conducts nationwide data gathering to collect information about the people and housing of the United States. The data collected consists of demographic data from all people and housing units. The decennial Census provides counts and information for many levels of geography, including states, counties, cities and towns, ZIP codes, census tracts and blocks. The analysis of this data is vital to the decision making process for planning issues, identifying trends over time, and the distribution of funds for government programs.
The data on this page is compiled from the 2000 Census specifically for Baltimore City. More detailed information can be found on the Census Bureau website at www.census.gov.
Neighborhood Profiles
The Neighborhood Profiles provide data from the 2000 Census for each of Baltimore's Neighborhood Statistical Areas.
The profiles offer a general demographic portrait that shows changes since 1990 and compares individual neighborhoods to citywide totals for categories such as population, age, family household type and housing characteristics.
Technical note: This file was created using Microsoft Excel 97. Upon downloading, you should click to "enable macros" as this allows the drop-down menus and buttons to execute. Last, be selective in using the "Print All Neighborhoods" button as this command takes a long time to run.
