Overview
Baltimore City Recreation and Parks (BCRP) established the nature center in 1985 after receiving a generous donation from Orioles baseball hall-of-fame legend, Eddie Murray. The center was dedicated and named after Eddie's mother, Carrie Murray.
The nature center is nestled in 1,216 acres in the historic Gwynns Falls Leakin Park, which is the 2nd largest forested city park in the United States.
Who Are We?
Carrie Murray Nature Center (CMNC) is a hub for nature connection. Our programs serve Baltimore and surrounding counties, welcoming individuals and families as well as groups from schools, faith-based groups, recreation centers, and camps. During the school year, the nature center offers field trips and outreach programs for students of all ages including the Forest Preschool program serving children ages 2 -5 years old. CMNC also offer summer camps, public programs, special events, and volunteer opportunities.
We believe in the power of hands-on, experiential learning. Our programs offer opportunities to meet live animals, explore the park, and develop a relationship with the natural world - right here in Baltimore city's largest forest!
