Baltimore City Farms lets people in the city rent garden spaces to grow vegetables, herbs, and flowers. It’s open to everyone, no matter how much they know about gardening. Beginners get help from experienced gardeners, plus tools like lessons and guides to make growing easy and fun. The gardens are in parks all around Baltimore.

Rental Information
Each gardener pays a one-time $10 fee to apply (this fee can’t be refunded). They also sign a City Farms agreement and pay a small rental fee based on where their garden is and how big it is. Gardeners can choose a regular-sized bed (10 feet by 15 feet) or a smaller raised bed (9 feet by 6 feet).

Included Amenities
City Farms gardens are fenced and locked, and participants gain access from dawn to dusk with a key. The gardens also have City water (April through October), hoses, and wheelbarrows. Wood chips and manures are also provided during the growing season.
Social Activities
Each garden has community workdays, where everyone works together to clean up and take care of shared garden spaces. These events are often followed by a cookout, or a potluck lunch at a few of the gardens.
