Charm City Cleanup

Charm City Cleanup: Our Streets, Our Neighborhoods, Our Baltimore

What is the Charm City Cleanup Initiative?

The Charm City Cleanup Initiative is Baltimore's most ambitious citywide cleaning initiative in decades, focused on cleaning public spaces and supporting resident's sense of pride and ownership in Baltimore's neighborhoods. Launched in July 2025, this coordinated effort combines proactive government services, community engagement, and cross-agency collaboration. To usher in Charm City's New Culture of Clean, every single neighborhood in Baltimore will be visited by the city agency and partner cleanup crews to address resident service requests and proactively clean neighborhoods. Neighbors will be encouraged to report issues to 311, volunteer for cleaning events across the city, and coordinate cleanups in their own neighborhoods. We'll be in every corner of the city, and you'll be able to follow our progress through public maps showing when and where we're working. The Charm City Cleanup Initiative emphasizes a collaborative approach: Our Streets, Our Neighborhoods, Our Baltimore.

How can residents and the public get involved?

You can participate in the initiative by submitting a service request by calling 311, downloading the 311 app on your Android or Apple device, or on the web.

We are partnering with local non-profits, neighborhood organizations, and residents like you to support local initiatives in our communities. Through the initiative there will be opportunities to join a volunteer cleanup in a neighborhood served by the Charm City Cleanup that day. Visit the dashboard and click ' Join a Cleanup' to sign up. Participants will be paired with the event coordinators in the community they choose.

If you would like to host a cleanup in your neighborhood, click 'Start a Cleanup' and fill out the form. You may also call 311 and make a Solid Waste Clean-up Request for the Charm City Cleanup. Be sure to give a contact name, email address, and phone number for your request, along with a date, location, and expected number of volunteers.

What Baltimore City agencies and partners are involved in the Charm City Cleanup?

We're bringing city agencies, stakeholders, and partners together to get the job done:

  1. Department of Public Works (DPW) will be cleaning streets & alleyways, storm drains, graffiti, and addressing illegal dumping.
  2. Department of Transportation (DOT) will patch potholes, abate weeds along sidewalks & alleyways, and clean & mow our medians.
  3. Baltimore City Recreation & Parks (BCRP) will clean our tree pits, trim trees, and care for our green spaces.
  4. Clean Corps will tackle alleys, streets, sidewalks and vacant lots, all while working alongside you, our Baltimore residents.
  5. Residents can volunteer to join us on a service day and organize their own community cleanups.

What does the Charm City Cleanup aim to achieve?

Every Baltimore City neighborhood will be cleaned during the Charm City cleanup. Baltimore City will be segmented into 17 clusters of neighborhoods. Baltimore City agencies and Charm City Cleanup partners will service every cluster, one week at a time. Major and minor nuisances will be addressed through a strategic combination of completing 311 service requests and proactive work. City agencies will deploy crews to complete 311 service requests on the same schedule in each cluster, while Clean Corps partners will proactively clean neighborhoods with the highest need. Resident volunteers can organize community cleanups supported by the Charm City Cleanup teams. Residents who need support in doing their part to keep their own blocks clean will be connected to resources.

How will Baltimore City track work completed and communicate with residents?

Residents should report issues for service online, by calling 311, or downloading the 311 app on your Android or Apple device. These service requests will inform much of the work performed by the agencies and partners. Completions of service requests and proactive work will be tracked on the Verbosity platform, Baltimore City's technology partner for the Charm City Cleanup Initiative.
