Municipal Postal Operations (MPO) serves as the centralized mail and logistics hub for the City of Baltimore overseeing the secure, efficient, and cost-effective movement of interagency, outbound, and inbound mail and packages. By consolidating services and leveraging automation, the MPO helps streamline operations, reduce costs, and ensure timely delivery of critical communications across all departments.

Monday-Friday: 8:30 am - 4:30 pm

Closed for Lunch: 12-1 pm | Closed on Weekend and City Holidays

Centralized Mail Handling

  • Sorts and distributes all incoming and outgoing mail.

  • Enhances after-hours access and reduces bottlenecks at staffed mail counters.

Postage, Presorting & Mailing Solutions

  • Offers discounted postage through metering systems.
  • Provides presorting services to reduce postage costs and improve mail delivery times.
  • Handles bulk mailing and campaign distributions.

Inserters & High-Volume Mail Prep

  • Uses automated inserters to assemble high-volume mailings (water bills invoices, tax bills statements).
  • Ensure accuracy, speed, and efficiency in document processing.

USPS Liaison Support

· Coordinates directly with the United States Postal Service.

· Resolves mailing issues and ensures compliance with federal mailing standards.

Mailroom Technology & Automation

  • Implements barcode tracking, address validation, and cleansing tools.
  • Supports kiosk systems and digital service points (e.g. CharmCityPASS).

Green Initiatives

  • Operates electric vehicles for eco-friendly delivery.
  • Promote sustainability through digitization and smart delivery practices.
