Program Overview:

BMORE Beautiful invites resident led neighborhood groups to apply for the “Love Your Block” micro-grant. Love Your Block is a community engagement grant designed to support small projects that have a clear public benefit, focuses on reducing litter, while enhancing the overall aesthetic of the neighborhood. 

Interested residents, neighborhood groups, and community organizations are invited to submit project proposals for a micro grant ranging between $500 - $1500.  

Projects may include, but are not limited to:

  1. Creating or Updating Green Spaces: Community gardens, pocket parks, maintaining or creating garden beds, flower planting.
  2. Streetscaping: Planting & maintaining tree pits, sprucing up neighborhood signs, purchasing neighborhood signs.
  3. Community Art: Small scale art murals, developing a portrait series of neighbors, painting public benches
  4. Sprucing Up Pathways: Mulching/clearing overgrowth on trails, creating safe school walking paths, installing bike racks, or other pedestrian amenities.
  5. Signage and Wayfinding: Installing or improving neighborhood signage to enhance visibility and make it easier to navigate the area
  6. Increasing Neighborhood Safety: Repairing/installing lighting fixtures

What Items Are NOT covered Under Love Your Block Program:

  1. Staff time
  2. Administrative fees
  3. Rent or utilities
  4. Home façade improvements
  5. Block Parties
  6. Community clean up tools, i.e. trash grabbers, gloves, bags (If your community needs clean kit materials please contact: BMOREBeautiful@batimorecity.gov) 

Program Requirements:

  • Projects must be resident led.
  • Projects must take place in Baltimore City.
  • Projects must be Baltimore City volunteer-led
  • Projects must demonstrate a creative solution to issues affecting your neighborhood, particularly projects that impact the overall curb appeal of your neighborhood through cleanliness and beautification.
  • Projects must stand alone and can be completed within the implementation period. 
  • The project must not exceed $1,500 and receipts for all purchases will be required.
  • The project must be completed by April 1, 2027.
  • A grant report must be submitted to BMORE Beautiful after project completion.  The final day to submit a report is April 16, 2027. Failure to submit a report will disqualify your organization from future grant opportunities and the immediate return of grant funds issued.
    • The written report will include a final budget with receipts, photos of the revitalize block, and an accounting of various qualitative data, such as the number of volunteers used, bags of litter collected, trees planted, flower beds created, etc.

Application Requirements:

  • A completed application form with an image of the project site. 
  • A recent, signed W9 form.
    • The Applicant must be a registered 501c3 in good standing with the State of Maryland  OR must be able to secure a fiscal sponsor that is a registered 501c3 in good standing with the State of Maryland.
  • An IRS Determination Letter. 
    • If you have a fiscal sponsor, you must submit a copy of their IRS Determination Letter along with a letter of support from your sponsor. (This letter is a program requirement that must be submitted with your application. No exceptions.)

2025 Key Dates and Deadlines:

Application Window: July 6- August 7, 2026
Selection Committee: August 10-August 14
Grantee Notifications: August 21, 2026
Grantee Award Agreements/Workday Registration: September 1, 2026
Project Implementation Period: October 1 , 2026-April 1, 2027.
