Chief James Wallace
Fire Chief James W. Wallace leads the Baltimore City Fire Department and oversees more than 1,600 uniformed personnel. He provides strategic direction for fire suppression, emergency medical services, fire prevention, investigations, communications, harbor protection, training, and personnel operations.
Known for his hands-on leadership, innovation, and commitment to public service, Chief Wallace works closely with department members, City agencies, labor partners, and the community. He also guides the department’s long-range goals, operational planning, and continued efforts to strengthen emergency services throughout Baltimore.
