Need Help With Heating Bills This Winter?
Keeping Baltimore Warm, Safe, and Supported This Winter
The Baltimore City Fire Department is committed not only to responding in times of emergency, but also to protecting the wellbeing of our residents before emergencies occur. As temperatures drop, many families across our city face challenges keeping their homes safely heated. No one in Baltimore should be cold this winter — and help is available.
What Energy Assistance Can Provide
Programs such as OHEP, MEAP, EUSP, the Fuel Fund of Maryland, and BGE payment arrangements can help eligible residents with:
- Help paying heating and electric bills
- Prevention of utility shut-offs
- Emergency financial support
- Energy-saving resources to make homes safer and more efficient
How BCFD Is Helping
Through our winter outreach efforts, BCFD teams are:
- Visiting neighborhoods to distribute informational materials
- Sharing guidance on safe home-heating practices
- Connecting residents with trusted local partners who offer financial assistance
- Supporting seniors, families with children, and vulnerable households who may be struggling
Stay Safe While Staying Warm
Along with financial support resources, we encourage every household to follow safe heating practices. Improper use of space heaters, extension cords, stoves, or generators can lead to fires, carbon monoxide poisoning, and other life-threatening emergencies. Our mission is to help Baltimore stay warm and safe.
