BALTIMORE, MD (February 4, 2026) — Due to a significant drop in overnight temperatures, the Baltimore City Health Department will activate a Code Blue Extreme Cold Alert beginning Wednesday night through Monday, February 9 to protect residents from dangerous cold weather conditions. 

The Baltimore City Health Commissioner Dr. Michelle Taylor has extended the Code Blue Extreme Cold Alert through Sunday, February 1 due to continued single digit temperatures, ongoing and hazardous conditions across Baltimore City.

Interim Health Commissioner Mary Beth Haller has issued a Code Blue Extreme Cold Alert beginning Tuesday, February 18 through Friday morning, February 21. This alert has been issued due to forecasted wind chills reaching the teens and a mix of wintry weather expected Wednesday. These extreme cold conditions could pose significant health risks to residents within the City of Baltimore.

Interim Health Commissioner Mary Beth Haller has issued a Code Blue Extreme Cold Alert beginning Sunday night, January 19 through Thursday, January 23. This alert has been issued due to forecasted single digit wind chills and wintery weather expected Sunday night. Wind chills are projected to reach negative values through Thursday. These extreme cold conditions could pose significant health risks to residents within the City of Baltimore. 

Interim Health Commissioner Mary Beth Haller has issued a Code Blue Extreme Cold Alert beginning Tuesday, January 14 through Thursday morning, January 16. This alert has been issued due to forecasted wind chills expected to dip to 13 degrees overnight Monday and remain in the teens through Thursday morning. These extreme cold conditions could pose significant health risks to residents within the City of Baltimore. 

Health Commissioner Declares Code Blue Extreme Cold Alert For this Weekend through Tuesday

For Immediate Release 8/4/2022 Baltimore, MD – On Thursday BCHD offered 60 monkeypox (MPX) vaccine appointments to City residents meeting current eligibility criteria. BCHD shared instructions earlier in the week online and in the media for high-risk individuals to seek an appointment reservation by phone Thursday morning at 9:00 a.m.

It has been a whirlwind week of attending my first State of the City Address, the swearing in ceremony for Commissioner Harris, and meeting some of the talented team at the Baltimore City Health Department.

In my very brief time at the Health Department, I have had the pleasure to meet and hear from Baltimore residents, elected officials, healthcare providers and other public health stakeholders all across the City regarding what Baltimore needs to move towards a more equitable health landscape.
