The Baltimore City Health Department runs several programs that provide food for Baltimore City older adults.

Home Delivered Food Boxes

*This program is usually just for adults 55+ but is currently open to all*
This program delivers a 15-pound box of non-perishable groceries to Baltimore City residents who:

  • cannot afford meals or groceries
  • currently have no food at home or will run out of food before they can buy more

Eating Together in Baltimore

Community-based meals for adults age 60+ at 10 senior centers across the city. The program also provides meals for residents of certain older adult housing.

Meals are free, but you must register for the program. To sign up and for more information, call 443-573-0161.

Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program

$35 for Baltimore City residents 60+ to use at farmers’ markets. The money is placed on cards, which can be used for fresh fruits, vegetables, herbs, and honey.

Tai Ji Quan: Moving for Better Balance

Discover the art of balance and stability with our Tai Ji Quan: Moving for Better Balance program. This unique, evidence-based program offers older adults a gentle yet powerful way to enhance their physical coordination, reduce fall risks, and improve overall mobility. Designed by Dr. Fuzhong Li at the Oregon Research Institute, the program transforms traditional Tai Ji Quan techniques into therapeutic movements specifically aimed at improving postural stability, functional walking, and the strength of lower extremities.

Bingocize

Bingocize is an evidence-based program that integrates physical activity, health education, and the familiar structure of bingo to enhance mobility and social connection among older adults. Bingocize is currently held at the Waxter Center on Wednesdays at 9:15 AM.

Fit & Strong!

Fit & Strong! is an evidence-based program and physical activity initiative designed for older adults, particularly those with osteoarthritis, focusing on improving strength, flexibility, and overall health through structured exercise and education.

Chronic Disease Self-Management Program (CDSMP)

CDSMP is an evidence-based interactive workshop that supports individuals with chronic conditions in managing their health through practical strategies and peer support. The program begins Thursday, April 23, and runs for six consecutive weeks.
