Bureau of School Health
The Bureau of School Health (BSH) serves as the provider of record for school health services across Baltimore City Public Schools. BSH delivers and coordinates comprehensive health services in School Sealth Suites and School Based Health Centers (SBHCs), supporting 78,530 students in 149 schools.
BSH’s core priorities include early nursing intervention in elementary schools; skilled nursing management for students with special health needs; mandated hearing and vision screenings; compliance with immunization requirements; health case management; and coordination of care with primary care providers, mental health services, and substance use treatment programs.
In addition to School Health Suite services, BSH operates multiple School Based Health Centers, which function as primary care clinics offering preventive care, chronic disease management, acute care, and mental health services. These centers ensure accessible, student-centered care for youth with a broad range of medical needs.
