What We Do

The Mayor’s Office of LGBTQ Affairs is dedicated to advancing equity, inclusion, and justice for Baltimore’s LGBTQIA+ community. We advocate for LGBTQIA+ rights at both the city and state levels, working with elected officials, agencies, and community partners to ensure policies reflect the needs and voices of our diverse community.

We help ensure Baltimore complies with local, state, and federal laws that protect LGBTQIA+ residents, collaborating with equity and compliance offices to promote fair treatment, prevent discrimination, and uphold human rights.

Our office connects LGBTQIA+ individuals to vital city services and programs, while advocating for initiatives that improve their overall quality of life. We also host events that celebrate and empower the community, and provide cultural competency training across city agencies, especially in public safety, to foster a safer, more inclusive Baltimore.

Our mission is to create a city where every LGBTQIA+ person feels seen, supported, and valued.
