Helping City Agencies Serve Immigrant Residents
We provide support to other City agencies and external partners so that they can better serve immigrants and refugees in Baltimore City.
Our office serves as a hub where City agencies can access information and resources related to demographic research, language access, outreach and communications strategies, City policies, and more. We work to ensure that local government agencies are sensitive to the needs of immigrant communities in developing and implementing their respective programs and services.

- Communications
Our office advises other city agencies on how to best communicate with the immigrant and refugee community. For example, we have assisted agencies with developing graphics and other communications tailored to immigrants.
- Outreach Strategies
Our office advises other city agencies on how to best conduct outreach to the immigrant and refugee community. For example, we have provided recommendations on the ethnolinguistic trends in different neighborhoods of Baltimore, based on the immigrant communities that reside there, and the types of events that an agency should attend.
- Language Access
Our office advises other city agencies on language access planning, provides direct language services (in-house translation or interpretation), and provides information on serving limited English proficiency (LEP) individuals in Baltimore City.
- Program Design
Our office advises other city agencies on how to design and implement their programs to better serve immigrants and refugees. For example, we have advised city agencies on common barriers experienced by immigrant communities.
- Demographic Research
Our office researches and provides demographic data to other city agencies to better understand the needs of immigrants and refugees for a certain topic.
- Policy and Legislation
Our office provides expertise regarding the immigrants and refugee community in Baltimore City to guide policy and legislative decisions.
- Community Connections
Our office connects city agencies with our community partners to foster growing relationships between immigrant serving organizations and the Baltimore City government.
