What We Do

At the heart of our vibrant city, the Mayor's Office of Older Adult Affairs & Advocacy (MOAAA) stands as the beacon of support, care, and representation for residents aged 60 and above. As the lead advocate for our older population.

MOAAA is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for older adults through comprehensive resources, services, and programs.

Advocacy for Older Adults

  • Dedicated advocate for older adult residents
  • Assists in accessing a wide range of resources, programs, and services provided by city agencies and partners.
     

Comprehensive Citywide Strategies

  • Crafts comprehensive strategies to support older adults.
  • Leads a planning initiative aimed at transforming Baltimore into an age-friendly community.

Supports Baltimore City Commission on Aging, Resources & Empowerment (CARE)

  • This is a volunteer board appointed by the Mayor.
  • The Commission consist of 17 members and Ex Officials, Commissioners are appointed to a 4-year term
  • MOAAA provides administration support and organizes
  • Host the Commission’s monthly meetings (10 meetings a year)

Policy Advocacy

  • Works with the Baltimore City Commission on Aging, Resources & Empowerment to advise the Mayor and the Administration on issues affecting older adult residents
  • Engages in policy development to address the needs and concerns of older adults.

Community Outreach

  • Conducts outreach to raise awareness about available services and programs.
  • Engages with community organizations and stakeholders to promote the interests of older adults.

Support Services

Provides administrative support and coordination to ensure efficient delivery of services for older adults.
