If you wish to obtain an alcoholic beverage license, you must submit an application for transfer, expansion, or a new license to the Board. According to state law, a notice must be prominently displayed on the property for 10 consecutive days for ownership transfers, location transfers, expansions, or new licenses. Additionally, the Board is required to publish an advertisement of the application in newspapers with general circulation.
For ownership transfer applications, where the establishment is already open, the Board will only consider the applicant’s fitness. Public need and accommodation are not factors in these cases. However, for applications involving a location transfer, a closed premises for over 90 days, or a new or expanded license, the Board must consider public need and accommodation.
