BALTIMORE, MD (Monday, May 5, 2025) – Today, The Mayor’s Office of Small and Minority Business Advocacy & Development (SMBA&D) hosted a Small Business Awards Ceremony on at City Hall in the City Council Curran Room. Baltimore Main Streets invited 60-75 individuals, including business awardees and Baltimore City council representatives. The program included a kick-off, remarks from Mayor Scott Brandon M. Scott, SMBA&D Director Christopher R. Lundy, Esq. Baltimore Main Streets Director Charlyn Nater, and a presentation of award to the recipients.

“Baltimore’s Renaissance is in full swing, thanks to the local artists, restaurant owners, and local businesses—many of them Black and women-owned—driving us forward,” said Mayor Brandon M. Scott. “Small Business Week is the perfect time to highlight our commitment to these leaders. We’ve already delivered millions to help small businesses, support innovators and entrepreneurs, and transform formerly vacant storefronts into new restaurants. We’re revitalizing the economic heart of our city—and that starts with showing love to our favorite Baltimore small businesses.”

According to the U.S. Small Business Administration, National Small Business Week is May 4-10, where they acknowledge entrepreneurs, small business owners, and their contributions to the economy. The celebration hosted by Baltimore Main Streets (a program out of the Mayor’s Office of Small and Minority Business Advocacy & Development) kicked off the week honoring and uplifting small businesses within Baltimore’s main street districts.

"Providing continuous support to our nine Main Street corridors is a priority for the city!” said Charlyn Nater, Director of the Baltimore Main Streets program. “Small Business Week is a celebration of the heart and hustle that drive Baltimore forward. Our small businesses are more than storefronts – they’re the dreams, culture, and community that make our city thrive.”
