The Maintenance Division is made up of the following groups:

Street Lighting

The Street Lighting team is in charge of putting up, fixing, and taking care of all the streetlights in Baltimore. They set up lights and electrical services for city events and festivals.

Roadway Maintenance

The Roadway Maintenance team fixes things like potholes, broken streets, curbs, and ramps for people with disabilities. They take care of areas like medians, and they help with snow removal and putting out salt in the winter.

Bridge Maintenance

The Bridge Maintenance team looks after Baltimore’s 300 bridges, including 2 drawbridges and 17 bridges for pedestrians. They take care of public benches, guard rails, and fences on the bridges.

Facility Maintenance

The Facility Maintenance team repairs and takes care of all the buildings used by the Department of Transportation. They do carpentry work, like making salt boxes, "street closed" barricades, and bench boards.

Inner Harbor Maintenance

The Inner Harbor Maintenance team takes care of the Inner Harbor area. They fix lighting, electrical systems, plumbing, landscaping, and do carpentry work around the harbor and city piers.

Landscape Maintenance

The Landscape Maintenance team takes care of grassy areas, traffic islands, and other green spaces in the city. They mow, trim, and take care of trees. They fill salt boxes in the winter and help with snow removal.

Signs and Markings

The Signs and Markings team puts up thousands of signs every year. These signs include traffic signs, parkway signs, and signs to show where city buildings are. They paint road markings and crosswalks. Special jobs include painting for events like the Preakness and baseball season.
