Temporary Road Closures and Traffic Pattern Changes Expected This Weekend
The Baltimore City Department of Transportation (DOT) would like to advise motorists of temporary road closures and traffic pattern changes scheduled for this weekend. Weekend Lane and Ramp Closures Along the Jones Falls Expressway / I-83
This weekend, temporary lane and ramp closures will be in effect along the Jones Falls Expressway / I-83 for graffiti removal. The Maryland Department of Transportation Maryland Transit Administration (MDOT MTA) is working in partnership with the City of Baltimore to paint the light rail bridge that crosses the Jones Falls Expressway.
Starting at approximately 9:00 p.m. Saturday, June 6, 2026, the northbound and southbound Jones Fall Expressway / I-83 will be reduced to one lane of travel in each direction between the 29th Street access ramp and Guilford Avenue. These lane closures will remain in effect until approximately 12:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 7, 2026, weather permitting. During this time, crews will shift the lane closures across the expressway as painting work progresses on the bridge above.
In addition, the following ramps will be closed during this time with detours in effect:
- The North Avenue ramp to the southbound Jones Falls Expressway / I-83
- The Maryland Avenue exit ramp from the southbound Jones Falls Expressway / I-83
- The Charles Street ramp to the northbound Jones Falls Expressway / I-83
Motorists traveling along the expressway during this time should stay alert for shifting traffic patterns within the work zone. Because these lane closures may cause delays, drivers are encouraged to use alternate routes.
Lane Closures for CFG Bank Arena Event
On Friday, temporary lane closures will be implemented in the vicinity of the CFG Bank Arena for an arena event.
In preparation for the event, the following lane closures will be implemented from approximately 8:00 p.m. Friday, June 5th to 1:00 a.m. Saturday, June 6, 2026:
- Howard Street left lane closure from Camden to Pratt Streets
- Lombard Street right lane closure from Hopkins Place to Howard Street
- Baltimore Street left lane closure from Howard Street to Park Avenue
- Pratt Street left lane closure from Eutaw to Howard Streets
Traffic Modifications for the Baltimore 10-Miler
This Saturday, traffic modifications will be implemented for the Baltimore 10-Miler footrace which starts and finishes in Druid Hill Park. The race kicks off at 7:00 a.m. and is expected to end by about 10:00 a.m.
In preparation for the event, on Saturday, June 6, 2026, one lane of traffic will be coned off for participants along the race route where possible with parking restrictions in effect:
- Start on Mansion House Drive (near baseball field).
- Head south on Mansion Drive and veer left at the ‘triangle’.
- Turn left on East Drive and continue past the pool; road becomes Wyman Park Drive.
- Continue along Wyman Park Drive crossing over Sisson St./Keswick Rd.
- Turn Right on Remington Ave.
- Turn left on 31st
- Turn right back onto Wyman Park Drive.
- Turn right at Art Museum Drive to continue along Wyman Park and then turn left onto 28th
- Go about seven blocks and turn left onto Greenmount Avenue.
- Make slight right onto Old York Road.
- Turn right on 33rd Street and follow it to Lake Montebello.
- Enter Lake Montebello via Whitman Drive and turn right into the driving lanes.
- Follow the lake loop around counterclockwise and exit back out onto 33rd
- Make slight right on 33rd Street and follow it back to Greenmount Ave.
- Turn left on Greenmount Ave and follow it to 28th
- Turn right on 28th
- Turn right on Howard Street, continuing onto Wyman Park Drive when crossing 29th
- Turn left at Art Museum Drive to continue along Wyman Park Drive.
- Turn left on W. 31st
- Turn right on Remington Ave and left onto Wyman Park Drive.
- Follow Wyman Park Drive back to Druid Hill Park, going past the pool and veering left onto East Drive.
- Continue along East Drive and turn right on Red Road (stay in right lane until past Safety City).
- Turn left on Shop Road.
- Stay to the left around Safety City on Grove Road and Cut Off Drive.
- Turn right on Red Road, then right on East Drive.
- Turn right on Mansion House Drive.
- Veer right at the ‘triangle’ to stay on Mansion House Drive to the Finish Line!
During the event, temporary traffic stops will be implemented for the safety of participants. Motorists traveling in this vicinity may experience delays and are encouraged to use alternate routes to avoid delays.
Traffic Modifications for Weekend Activities
On Saturday, June 6, 2026, the following road and lane closures will be in effect:
- Monument Street closure between Wolfe and Washington Sts 7:00am – 3:00pm (crane operation)
- Caroline Street reduced to one lane between Dock and Lancaster Sts 6:00am – 5:00pm (crane operation)
- Monument St closed between Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd. and Arch St 7:00am – 3:00pm (crane operation)
- Charles Street closure between Saratoga Street and North Avenue 4:00am to 11:59pm (special event – Charles Street Promenade)
- 36th Street closure between Falls Road and Chestnut Ave 5:00am – 9:00pm (special event – Hampden Highlights Festival)
- Dolphin Street closure between Pennsylvania and Argyle Aves 6:00am – 7:00pm (special event – Juneteenth Fun Day)
- Art Museum Drive closure between Charles Street and Wyman Park Drive 8:00am – 111:59pm (special event – Baltimore Beats & Eats)
On Sunday, June 7, 2026, the following lane closures will be in effect:
- Druid Hill Park lane closures 5:00am – 11:00am (special event – Stride and Thrive 5K)
- Caroline Street reduced to one lane between Dock and Lancaster Sts 6:00am – 5:00pm (crane operation)
- Procession/mobile road closures of W. Saratoga St at Park Ave, Park Ave to W. Mulberry Street, W. Mulberry St to Cathedral St, and Cathedral St back to W. Saratoga St 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. (special event – Saint Alphonsus Street Procession)
Traffic Modifications for the Baltimore Farmers’ Market
This Sunday, traffic modifications will be in effect for the Baltimore Farmers’ Market, which is held under the Jones Falls Expressway along Saratoga Street between Holliday and Gay Streets.
On Sunday, June 7, 2026, the following street and lane closures will be implemented from approximately 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. with parking restrictions in effect:
- Holliday Street closed from E. Pleasant Street to E. Saratoga Street
- Pleasant Street closed at Holliday Street
- Hillen Street center lane closure between Front Street and Fallsway
