Weekend Road Closures for Friday, April 17th Through Sunday, April 19, 2026

The Baltimore City Department of Transportation (DOT) would like to advise motorists of the temporary road closures and traffic modifications for the following activities this weekend.  Please download the Waze.com app for live detour navigation.  All activities are weather permitting and DOT is not responsible for providing status updates.

Weekend Lane and Ramp Closures Along the Southbound Jones Falls Expressway

This weekend, temporary lane and ramp closures will be in effect along the southbound Jones Falls Expressway. 

Starting at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, April 17th, two lanes of the southbound Jones Falls Expressway / I-83 will be closed between the 29th Street access ramp and Guilford Avenue.  These lane closures will remain in effect until 11:00 p.m. Sunday, April 19, 2026, weather permitting.  

In addition, the following ramps will be closed during this time with detours in effect:

  • The North Avenue ramp to the southbound Jones Falls Expressway / I-83

  • The Maryland Avenue exit ramp from the southbound Jones Falls Expressway / I-83

Motorists traveling southbound on the expressway this weekend should remain alert for shifting traffic patterns within the work zone. Because the lane closures may cause delays, drivers are encouraged to use alternate routes during this time. 
 

Traffic Modifications for Weekend Activities

On Friday, April 17, 2026, the following road closure will be in effect:

  • Barclay Street closed between E. Lafayette Avenue and E. Lanvale Street 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. (special event)

On Saturday, April 18, 2026, the following road and lane closures will be in effect:

  • 3501 7th Street lane closures 7:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. (special event – Dash 4 Dignity 5K)
  • Aliceanna Street eastbound closed between Eden and Caroline Streets 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. (crane operation)
  • Light Street lane closure between Lee Street and Key Hwy 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. (crane operation)
  • Paca Street lane closures between Fayette and Saratoga Streets 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. (crane operation)
  • The Hanover Street Bridge southbound lane closures between Cromwell Street and Waterview Avenue 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. (repair work)
  • Cumberland Street closed between Pennsylvania Avenue and Division Street 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. (special event - Uplift Baltimore Resource Fair)
  • Linwood Avenue closed between E. Pratt Street and Eastern Avenue 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. (special event - R.I.S.E. For Acceptance)
  • Aisquith Street closed between E. Baltimore and E. Fayette Streets 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. (set-up for the Red Shoe Shuffle)
  • Guilford Avenue closed between E. 32ndand E. 33rd Streets 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (special event – Phi Delta Jump Off)

On Sunday, April 19, 2026, the following lane closures will be in effect:

  • Light Street lane closure between Lee Street and Key Hwy 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. (crane operation)
  • Paca Street lane closures between Fayette and Saratoga Streets 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. (crane operation)

Traffic Modifications for the Red Shoe Shuffle

The Baltimore City Department of Transportation would like to advise motorists of the traffic modifications and parking restrictions that will be implemented for the Red Shoe Shuffle 5k Run. 

The race will be held on Sunday, April 19th and kicks off at 8:30 a.m. from the Ronald McDonald House.  Participants will start on Fayette St, turn right on Central Ave. right on Eastern Ave., and continue across Eastern Ave Bridge towards Pier 5 & 6.  Turn Left between Pier 5 & 6, turn right before the Lighthouse on cut-through, bear right toward Pratt St., left onto wood plank bridge crossing from Pier 5 to Pier 4 (Science Center Annex). Turn left after crossing bridge to continue around perimeter of Pier 4. Continue toward Pratt St. and turn left at the Power Plant after passing Hard Rock Café onto the Harbor Bridge Walk. Continue onto the promenade in front of the Aquarium entrance. Continue onto promenade CCW around WTC. Bear left at amphitheater. Pass Westshore Park on the right. Turn right at the “Flying Fruit” concession stand on right side; this is before the MD Science Center. Turn right on Light St. into the harbor side lane. Bear right onto Pratt St and continue in the harbor side lane. Continue onto Pratt St., turn left on Central Ave in against traffic lane. Turn left on E. Baltimore St. and right on Aisquith St to finish in front of Ronald McDonald House.

In preparation for the event, the following street will be closed at 7:00 a.m. Saturday, April 18th, until 2:00 p.m. Sunday, April 19th:

  • Aisquith Street (both sides) from E. Fayette Street to E. Baltimore Street

The following parking restrictions will be in effect Sunday, April 19th, from 2:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.:

  • BS Aisquith Street from E. Fayette Street to E. Baltimore Street (starts Saturday April 18th)
  • BS S. Central Avenue from E. Fayette Street to Eastern Avenue
  • BS E. Baltimore Street from Llyod Street to S. Central Avenue
  • WS S. Caroline Street from Lancaster Street to Dock Street

During the event, one travel lane will be coned off along the race route for participants where possible.  Baltimore City Police & Traffic Enforcement Officers will be stationed along the route to help facilitate the movement of traffic.  Temporary traffic stops may be implemented during the race for the safety of participants.  Motorists traveling in this vicinity should be on the watch for pedestrians and are encouraged to use alternate routes. 
 

Traffic Modifications for the Baltimore Farmers’ Market

This Sunday, traffic modifications will be in effect for the Baltimore Farmers’ Market, which is held under the Jones Falls Expressway along Saratoga Street between Holliday and Gay Streets.

On Sunday, April 19, 2026, the following street and lane closures will be implemented from approximately 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. with parking restrictions in effect:

  • Holliday Street closed from E. Pleasant Street to E. Saratoga Street
  • Pleasant Street closed at Holliday Street
  • Hillen Street center lane closure between Front Street and Fallsway

Motorists traveling in these vicinities should be on the watch for changing traffic patterns and should use alternate routes.
