Weekend Road Closures for Friday, May 1st Through Sunday, May 3, 2026
The Baltimore City Department of Transportation (DOT) would like to advise motorists of the temporary road closures and traffic modifications for the following activities this weekend. Intersection of E. Pratt and President Streets to Close Overnight This Weekend for Resurfacing Work
This weekend, the intersection of E. Pratt Street and President Street will close overnight for resurfacing work as part of the Inner Harbor Intersection Improvement Project.
Starting at 9:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 2nd, the intersection of E. Pratt Street and President Street will be closed to traffic with detours in effect, weather permitting. This intersection will remain closed until 12:00 p.m. Sunday, May 3, 2026.
During the closure, the following detours will be in effect:
- Eastbound Pratt Street traffic will be detoured north onto Gay Street to access I-83 North, or onto eastbound Baltimore Street to follow detour signs back to Pratt Street.
- Southbound I-83 / President Street traffic will be detoured onto eastbound E. Baltimore Street to follow detour signs to Pratt Street. One lane of southbound President Street traffic will remain open for drivers to access Lombard Street.
- Northbound President Street traffic will be detoured eastbound on Eastern Avenue to follow detour signs back to President Street, or westbound on Eastern to access Pier 6.
While the intersection closure is in effect, local traffic will be maintained for area businesses and garages. This closure may cause delays, so motorists are encouraged to plan ahead by allowing additional travel time and using alternate routes.
The Charm City Circulator’s Green and Orange Routes will be affected by the intersection closure listed above. Patrons should check the Charm City Circulator website or download the Passio GO! App for live updates.
Also, MDOT MTA bus lines may be affected by this intersection closure, so patrons are encouraged to visit www.MTA.Maryland.gov for additional information.
Traffic Modifications for Flower Mart
This weekend, traffic modifications will be in effect for Flower Mart which will be held on Friday, May 1st and Saturday, May 2, 2026, in the heart of Mount Vernon.
In preparation for the event, the following streets will be closed to traffic from 9:00 a.m. Thursday, April 30th until 11:59 p.m. Saturday, May 2, 2026, with detours and parking restrictions in effect:
- Mount Vernon Place (eastbound and westbound) from Cathedral to St. Paul Streets
- Charles Street from Centre to Madison Streets
Additional road closures will be in effect from 9:00 a.m. Friday, May 1st until 11:59 p.m. Saturday, May 2, 2026, with detours and parking restrictions in effect:
- Madison Street from St. Paul to Cathedral Streets
- Charles Street from Madison to Read Streets
All parking restrictions in the vicinity of the event will be strictly enforced. Motorists traveling in this area should obey all posted parking restrictions, be on the watch for pedestrians, and use alternate routes to avoid delays.
Traffic Modifications for the Kinetic Sculpture Race
This Saturday, traffic modifications will be implemented for the Kinetic Sculpture Race. The race will begin and end at the American Visionary Art Museum (AVAM) on Covington Street and kicks off at 9:30 a.m. A link to the race route map can be found here and race participants will run the 15-mile course through the Inner Harbor and surrounding neighborhoods at the approximate times listed below:
- 8:00 – 9:30 a.m. Safety check and brake test at AVAM
- 9:30 – 10:00 Opening Ceremonies & start from AVAM onto Key Highway
- 10:03 – 10:20 Climb Battery Avenue into Federal Hill Park
- 10:15 – 11:30 Race down Riverside, Fort, Lawrence, Key Highway, around the Inner Harbor, down President Street, around Katyn Circle to Aliceanna Street & Boston Street
- 11:15 – 1:00 p.m. Water entry at Canton Waterfront Park
- 1:00 – 1:30 Race up Kenwood Avenue, right on Eastern, left on Linwood and into Patterson Park
- 1:15 – 3:15 Patterson Park Obstacle Course
- 3:30 – 4:45 Race down Lombard, Central, Eastern, Pier 5, Pratt, Light, Key Highway, Lawrence, Fort, Jackson, Clement and Covington to the finish line at AVAM (first racers may finish as early as 3:30)
- 4:00 – 6:00 Post-race recovery (dinner for racers & volunteers)
- 6:00 – 7:00 Awards Ceremony at AVAM
In preparation for the event, Covington Street will be closed to traffic between Key Highway and Cross Street beginning at 9:00 a.m. Thursday, April 30th through 6:00 p.m. Saturday, May 2, 2026, with detours and parking restrictions in effect. During the race on Saturday, May 2nd, one lane of travel will be coned off for participants along the race route wherever possible.
The following parking restrictions will be implemented on Saturday, May 2, 2026, from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.:
- South side of Key Highway from Battery Avenue to Covington Street
- South side of Key Highway from Williams Street to Light Street
- South side of Boston Street from Aliceanna Street to East Avenue
- Covington Street between Key Highway and Cross Street (begins at 7:00 a.m. Thursday, April 30th)
Motorists are advised that temporary traffic stops will occur throughout the event for the safety of participants. Transportation Enforcement Officers, along with the Baltimore City Police, will be positioned along the race route to help manage traffic flow. Drivers should expect delays and are encouraged to plan ahead by allowing extra travel time on race day.
Traffic Modifications for Weekend Activities
On Saturday, May 2, 2026, the following road and lane closures will be in effect:
- MD 295 northbound left lane closure from the city line to Hamburg St 6:00am—4:00pm (cleaning and pothole repairs)
- Jones Falls Expressway / I-83 southbound exit ramp to eastbound Cold Spring Lane closed 6:00am to 4:00pm (street lighting repairs)
- Paul St closed between 32nd and 33rd Sts 7:00am to 7:00pm (crane operation)
- Eutaw St closed between Saratoga and Fayette Sts 6:00am to 6:00pm (crane operation)
- Westwood Ave closed between Appleton and Monroe Sts 11:00am – 7:00pm (special event – KI Cares)
On Sunday, May 3, 2026, the following road and lane closures will be in effect:
- Jones Falls Expressway – I-83 northbound and southbound left lane closures 6:00am to 2:00pm (cleaning)
- Eutaw St closed between Saratoga and Fayette Sts 6:00am to 6:00pm (crane operation)
Traffic Modifications for the Brigance Brigade Celebration of Champions
This Sunday morning, traffic modifications will be in effect for the Brigance Brigade Celebration of Champions which begins and ends at the intersection of Ellwood Avenue and Boston Street.
Participants will proceed north on Ellwood Avenue, left onto Eastern Avenue, then right to enter Patterson Park at the S. Linwood Avenue entrance to follow park paths. Runners will exit the park at the S. Linwood Avenue entrance and turn left onto Eastern Avenue, and right on Ellwood Avenue, to the finish line.
During the event, the following streets will be closed on Sunday May 3rd from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. with parking restrictions in effect from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.:
- Ellwood Avenue between Boston Street and Eastern Avenue
- Eastern Avenue between S. East Avenue and Patterson Park Avenue
- Linwood Avenue between Eastern Avenue and Pratt Street
Drivers should be aware that temporary traffic stops may be implemented during the race for the safety of participants. Motorists traveling in this vicinity should be on the watch for pedestrians and are encouraged to use alternate routes.
Traffic Modifications for the Baltimore Farmers’ Market
This Sunday, traffic modifications will be in effect for the Baltimore Farmers’ Market, which is held under the Jones Falls Expressway along Saratoga Street between Holliday and Gay Streets.
On Sunday, May 3, 2026, the following street and lane closures will be implemented from approximately 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. with parking restrictions in effect:
- Holliday Street closed from E. Pleasant Street to E. Saratoga Street
- Pleasant Street closed at Holliday Street
- Hillen Street center lane closure between Front Street and Fallsway
Motorists traveling in these vicinities should be on the watch for changing traffic patterns and should use alternate routes.
