The Baltimore City Department of Transportation (BCDOT) would like to advise motorists of the temporary road closures and traffic modifications for the following activities this weekend. Traffic Modifications for Weekend Activities
On Thursday, July 2, 2026, the following road and lane closures will be in effect:
- Washington Place/Charles Street closed between Mount Vernon Place and Madison Street 8:00am to 11:59pm (special event – Roots of Revival Celebration for the Nation’s 250th Anniversary)
- Lane closures will be implemented from approximately 8:00 p.m. Thursday, July 2nd to 1:00 a.m. Friday, July 3rd, 2026 (CFG Bank Arena event):
- Howard Street left lane closure from Camden to Pratt Streets
- Lombard Street right lane closure from Hopkins Place to Howard Street
- Baltimore Street left lane closure from Howard Street to Park Avenue
- Pratt Street left lane closure from Eutaw to Howard Streets
On Friday, July 3, 2026, the following road closure will be in effect:
- Gough Street closed between Wolfe and Washington Streets 8:00am to 5:00pm (special event – Wolfest)
Portion of Roland Avenue to Close for the Roland Avenue 4th of July Parade
This Saturday, a portion of Roland Avenue will close for the Roland Avenue 4th of July Parade. On Saturday, July 4, 2026, Roland Avenue will be closed between Deepdene Road and Upland Road from approximately 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. with detours and parking restrictions in effect.
Portion of Westbound Waterview Avenue to Close for the Cherry Hill Arts & Music Waterfront Festival
This Saturday, a portion of westbound Waterview Avenue will close for the 10th annual Cherry Hill Arts & Music Waterfront Festival. On Saturday, July 4, 2026, westbound Waterview Avenue will be partially closed between Hanover Street and Middle Branch Park from approximately 3:00 p.m. to 11:59 p.m. with detours and parking restrictions in effect.
Commercial Vehicle Restrictions and Traffic Modifications in the Downtown Area for July 4th Festivities
This Saturday, commercial vehicle restrictions and traffic modifications will be in effect in the downtown and Inner Harbor areas of Baltimore City.
Downtown commercial vehicle restrictions will be in effect on Saturday, July 4, 2026, starting at 12:00 p.m. and will remain in effect until 11:59 p.m. that evening. During this time, commercial vehicles will NOT be permitted in the downtown and Inner Harbor areas of Baltimore City, except for local deliveries. Please note that tanker trailers will NOT be permitted downtown during this time, including those for local deliveries. These commercial vehicle restrictions exclude cabs, buses and other mass transportation vehicles.
Commercial Vehicle Restrictions will be implemented in the following areas:
- Fayette Street from Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard to President Street. Commercial vehicles will not be allowed to travel on or south of Fayette Street.
- President Street from Aliceanna to Fayette Streets. Commercial vehicles will not be allowed to travel on or west of President Street.
- Light Street from Pratt Street to Key Highway.
- Key Highway from Light to McComas Streets.
- Hanover Street from McComas to Montgomery Streets. Commercial vehicles will not be allowed north of McComas Street, including Hanover Street.
- Pratt, Lombard and Baltimore Streets from Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard to President Street.
- I-395 at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard split to Pratt Street (no commercial vehicles will be permitted on I-395 past the Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd. split).
In addition to the temporary commercial vehicle restrictions, the following streets will be closed on Saturday, July 4, 2026, from 8:30 p.m. until after event traffic clears:
- Pratt Street will be closed at Charles Street – Pratt Street traffic will be diverted north on Charles Street to continue east on Baltimore Street.
- Lombard Street will be closed at President Street – Lombard Street traffic will be diverted north on President Street to continue west on Fayette Street.
- Northbound Light Street will close at Lee Street – Northbound Light Street traffic will be diverted west onto Lee Street to continue north on Charles Street.
- Southbound Light Street will close at Lombard Street – Southbound Light Street traffic will be diverted west onto Lombard Street to continue south on Sharp Street.
- Northbound I-395 traffic at Conway Street will be diverted north onto Howard Street. No access will be allowed onto eastbound Conway Street.
The following lane closures will be implemented on Saturday, July 4, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. until clear:
- North side of Lombard Street from President to South Streets
- West side of Charles Street from Conway to Fayette Streets
Parking restrictions will also be implemented on Saturday, July 4, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. until 11:59 p.m. at the following locations:
- Both sides of Gay Street from Pratt to Fayette Streets
- Both sides of Calvert Street from Pratt to Fayette Streets
- Both sides of Baltimore Street from Charles to Gay Streets
- West side of Charles Street from Pratt to Lombard Streets
- West side of Light Street from Pratt to Camden Streets
- East side of Light Street from Lombard to Pratt Streets
- East side of Charles Street from Lee to Barre Streets
- South side of Key Highway from Light to Covington Streets
- East side of Light Street from Lee to Conway Streets (parking restricted from 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 1st through 12:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 5, 2026)
Due to the large crowds expected downtown for July 4th festivities, attendees are strongly encouraged to use public transportation, including mass transit, the Charm City Circulator, or rideshare options. Drivers are advised to use commercial parking facilities and avoid parking in surrounding residential neighborhoods.
Traffic Modifications for the Baltimore Farmers’ Market
This Sunday, traffic modifications will be in effect for the Baltimore Farmers’ Market, which is held under the Jones Falls Expressway along Saratoga Street between Holliday and Gay Streets.
On Sunday, July 5, 2026, the following street and lane closures will be implemented from approximately 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. with parking restrictions in effect:
- Holliday Street closed from E. Pleasant Street to E. Saratoga Street
- Pleasant Street closed at Holliday Street
- Hillen Street center lane closure between Front Street and Fallsway
Motorists traveling in these vicinities should be on the watch for changing traffic patterns and should use alternate routes.
